Denim was born in France and popularised in America, but Japan is where today’s best quality denim is painstakingly crafted; so naturally, that’s where we get ours. You’ve heard our denim story before, so this time we’re casting our net into the wide blue denim seas to hear yours.
Welcome to You and Your Denim.
Who are you and what are you into?
I’m Graham. I’m Scottish and have lived in Hong Kong for the past 4 years. I work as a Project Manager with the local Architect firm, ALT-254. I’m really into boxing, music, food, travel and my cats.
What about denim does it for you?
I tend to wear jeans to work most days. They go with me from our office, to construction sites, to Client offices. I appreciate the versatility of denim, it’s casual and comfortable enough to wear on-site, but brush the construction dust off and looks good enough to carry onto into a client meeting.
What do you look for in a good fitting pair of jeans?
I wear a slim / extra slim fit (not skinny), preferably with a bit of give. I find the wash and colour really important; I never go for any extra design details like destroyed denim.
What’s the story behind your favourite piece of denim?
Actually, all my denim is currently Grana, so I guess that says a lot about your Japanese denim! They last, and the fit is exactly what I look for.
What’s your go-to wash?
I always go for dark wash or black, with an even wash. I feel like it looks smarter and makes for a much more versatile pair of jeans that you can pair back with any outfit.

Never nudes, chopping down trees, line dancing, Texas tuxedos, rodeos and Jeremy Clarkson. Very versatile.
